Had 12 stitches placed in rt middle finger 8 days ago. swelling, increasing redness, and pain, but no fever, pus. is it safe to remove stitches?

Suture issues: Probably a little early especially if you are right handed (using your fingers more). Ideally at least 10 days depending on the circumstances - a nice clean wound heals faster. The redness is your body reacting to the sutures and possibly to sutures placed deep (they absorb). I would try to hold out for at least another 2 days

See doc who put in: The best person to decide the answer is someone who placed the sutures and can recheck the wound. If you can't see the person who placed them, find your PCP or an ED or acute care doc to check the wound. It's impossible to tell you a good answer over the web or phone...
