Have you considered: dealing with phobia instead. For Phobias consider Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Behavior Therapy, Psychotherapy, Exposure therapy (imaginal exposure therapy, systematic desensitization, flooding, prolonged exposure therapy, in vivo exposure therapy) or hypnosis as possible options. Auricular acupuncture to reduce anxiety is a good option.

Discuss w/ Doctor: Before you set up thje schedule for the procedure (or others in your future), discuss all your issues w/ the doctor involved. Unless/until you can reach a plan, don't move ahead - especially if it is an elective procedure. I expect they'll have a plan for your case. Best wishes!
