A member asked:

Is it normal to have cramps every period but the blood only comes out during the cramp and stops when the cramps are over?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unfortunately yes: Menstrual cramps of most girls and women often begin just before or on the day menstrual bleeding start and gradually subside. The muscles of your uterus are believed to contract strongly as your menstrual blood is coming out and then contract less and less painfully as your bleeding slows down. Ask your doctor if it is OK to try medications like ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve (naproxen) or other means
