A member asked:

Why is it that every time i start breastfeeding my daughter i suddenly start falling asleep yet when i'm not breastfeeding i'm wide awake?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Love hormone: Breastfeeding occurs with the help of a symphony of hormones working together. The two main breastfeeding hormones are oxytocin, the "love hormone" and prolactin, the "mothering hormone". The release of these hormones from the brain can cause sleepiness, relaxation and a feeling of contentment. Also ensure you rest during the day while baby is asleep, eat small, frequent meals and stay hydrated.
