Depends on condition: For occasional use or acute injury, relaxants may be used 'as needed' for muscle cramps/pain.This is usually sufficient. For chronic pain, Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl) can be effective for recurrent spasms. It's not actually a 'pain' med but, if the problem is related to muscle spasm/contracture, it can help.Treating the root cause is preferable.History/physical w/Osteopathic hands-on exam may find cause=Recommended.
