This could be from: several different causes, depending on how long it's been happening and if there are other symptoms. It could be a viral, parasitic or bacterial infection, a food intolerance or a more chronic inflammatory intestinal problem. Irritable bowel: Cramping followed by bowel movement is not unusual. If it becomes a regular issue, particularly if you have alternating constipation and diarrhea you may have irritable bowel syndrome.
