A member asked:

Hi, i smoke. my voice sounds like i have a bad cold all the time. i will quit but should i be concerned about my voice? anything serious?

Smoking: You already know the answer to your question so I'm not sure what the motive is for the question. You clearly acknowledge that smoking is harmful and recognize that your voice is not normal and you may likely have caused permanent damage to your vocal cords as well as your lungs and your life expectancy. What is "I will quit"? what are you waiting for? please see an ENT to examine your vocal cords
