Get checked for: Raynaud's disease/ phenomenon which is due to spasms of blood vessels causing the bluish discoloration . Take care!

Sleeping on it: Severe vascular disease doesn't just go away with waking; perhaps you were sleeping in a position that compromised the blood flow, then relieved it with waking?
