Very common: This is a common and frustrating problem, for the patient for sure but also often for the doctor. BV tends to recur, and can be a particular problem in some patients. Things to try include consistent condoms for sex, periodic brief treatment routinely before symptoms appear. If you're not seeing a gynecologist with special interest in infectious diseases, that would be worth a try. Good luck!
