No way to know: Strep throat is just one of many different bacteria and viruses that can cause sore throat and fever. While we have a specific test for strep, which is one of the more common causes of your symptoms, there is no way to test for all of the infectious agents that could have caused your illness. Broad spectrum antibiotics kill various problematic bacteria which is why you are likely feeling better.
