Yes: swelling can cause weird sensations along the course of nerves ... Once the swelling resolves the numbness should resolve

See specialist: there is something that is squeezing that nerve and not allowing it to function. You should see a doctor right away. If you continue to ignore it you may suffer irreversible nerve damage.
