Surgery: I assume a groin hernia? There really aren't any medications for hernias. If you are having pain the hernia should be repaired. If you are referring to post-op pain (because you've already had surgery) and you are well out of the post op 4-6 weeks, you should talk to your surgeon about possible nerve involvement. Where is the hernia?: If you are having pain from hernias in the groin, belly button or surface of the abdomen, surgery is best unless you have had manyu unsuccessful repairs or are too ill and risky. Hiatal hernias are often treated with proton pump inhibitors or acid reducing agents to diminish the pain of heartburn from reflux. These can also be repaired surgically. See your doc or a general surgeon.
