Irritation: If it was in your lungs you would know about it. You would have been choking for it to get there, and likely would have lost consciousness. You probably irritated the throat area and this is what is causing the coughing. If it persists, go to the ER. Good luck.

If breathing, relax: Luckily, it wasn't a seed so you don't have to worry about a plant growing in your lung like the rare case a few years ago. Your normal cough reflex and body defenses will probably take care of it. I have seen one small child bronchoscoped for breathing in spaghetti and meat balls, but he was unable to breath. If chest pain or fever ensues, you need to be checked by a doctor with a chest xray.
