Yes: I assume you mean an attack for gout! In that case, yes. I am glad you put "reasonably safe" because as you know there is nothing that is completely safe! Doing nothing can lead to arthritis and tophi forming, and even ibuprofen or naprosyn (naproxen) carries some risks, even though they are over the counter. You may get diarrhea or nausea, but that is usually better than the pain from gout!
