It can: Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) is not the FIRST line of immunosuppressive medication used for pericarditis. The usual trio is colchicine, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and/or prednisone.But if any of these or combination is not helpful , Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) can be in your doctor's armamentarium to try.
