It can: Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) is not the FIRST line of immunosuppressive medication used for pericarditis. The usual trio is colchicine, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and/or prednisone.But if any of these or combination is not helpful , Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) can be in your doctor's armamentarium to try.

Hello, I have lupus as we all as recurring pericarditis. The treatment plan would be Kineret for the pericarditis, Plaquenil for Lupus as well as a low-dose steroid. Is this a bit much or does it seem adequate?
Taking 400 plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine). Homogeneous ANA, CH50, compliment 4 still elevated. Inflamed sinuses, fatigue, pericarditis ,rashes. What illness indicated?
