Is there a way to lessen pain associated with intramuscular injections? i receive weekly shots and it hurts for days afterwards but goes away.

You can try a few: things like using ice pack to area before injection, using a wider bore needle and pushing skin to side to avoid penetrating subcutaneous tissue. Topical anesthetic use can also be discussed with your doctor.

Intramuscular Inject: Choosing smaller size needle helps some, adding little lidocaine might numb up the area for few hrs provided it is compatible with the medicine itself.
