Children's choices: At 8 yrs of age, what she eats is going to depend on what's available at home. If she makes "unhealthy" choices then the solution? Don't make them available. Don't buy foods you don't want her eating. Make fresh fruits and veggies available. If she's picky - find the things that she likes that are still good for her. Encourage her to try new things. Eat healthy yourself - be an example.
