ANTERIOR FONTANEL:: Is the diamond shaped soft spot in between frontal and parietal bones, 2 x 2 cm; may remain open up to 18 mo. Age, but after 1 year can't be felt easily. Usually flat, soft; when baby cries, it may become tense or sometimes little bulging occurs. As you are saying, it is very prominent and bulging, check with her pediatrician.
