Treat the thromboph: Anytime the veins are inflamed, there is a potential for thrombosis and thrombi can break off and travel to the right side of the heart and from there to the lung. However, the balancing system of thrombolysis can dissolve the thrombus and anticoagulant drugs can prevent it from forming in the first place. Not every thromboembolus leads to death, especially if you have healthy lungs.
