My mom is 55, she temporarily lost her sense of smell and taste - for about a month - and since then, she says everything she eats tastes like perfume?

Hmmm?: That is an odd presentation of symptoms. Sinus infections can sometimes alter a persons sense of smell and taste. Other issues can be an irritation (of any kind) that affects the nerves that innervate those areas, thus affecting the senses,...just as bells palsy will affect the facial nerve and cause a drooping etc. Have mom evaluated by the Doctor if it persists. Best wishes.
