Not usually, but…: Carafate (sucralfate) taken orally will not have any affect on colitis. Having said that, however, it is sometimes used as an enema to treat colitis in the rectum and rectal ulcers. If it is prescribed that way, follow the doctor's advice on how often to take the enemas.
