Is carafate (sucralfate) safe? what about aluminum toxicity? also, how long is an appropriate amount of time to be on it?

Yes, safe: It is usually taken for 6-12 weeks but sometime longer depending on ulcer healing. It is a safe medication. The ingredient aluminium mostly stays in your stomach and hardly any, if at all, amount goes into your system. So dont worry about toxicity.
