Can carafate (sucralfate) be used to relieve heartburn?

GI: Yes. Carafate (sucralfate) is one of the medications used to treat "heartburn". Mylanta, maalox, Tums and Pepcid are some of the others you may have heard of. They all relieve symptoms to varying degrees. If one doesn't work you can try another.
