Sore shaky arms with occasional muscle twitches. no weakness though, i tested by picking up heavy objects with both arms. so should that rule out als?

Not ALS: I suspect benign Fasiculations - a common cause of muscle twitching. You need to discuss this with your physician to see if there are other explanations.
