Specializes in Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgery

Different training: Orthopedic Surgeons and podiatrists have different training. Orthopedic Surgeons are MDs or DO go through the traditional medical and surgical training, podiatrists have a Diploma in Podiatric Medicine, DPM. The decisions to operate or not is based on experience and training of the individual. It is important to understand the problem and the available options including risk and benefits of each.
