Rest, NSAIDS: Patient with post-lumbar puncture headache are treated conservatively in the first 24 hours. Bed rest is recommended. Also try over the counter anti-inflammatory medications (Motrin, Bayer, (aspirin) Alleve). Caffeine has also been shown to help control the headache. Contact your doctor if the headache still persists for over 24 hours

Post lumbar HA: dink enough fluid, lay down flat and can take over the counter tylenol, ibuprofen, etc. It will get better once your body replenish CSF that was taken out. In rare cases pt continues to have HA for several days likely due to persistent CSF leak so in that case you need to go back to physician to get a blood patch to stop CSF leak.
