A member asked:

I am gluten intolerant (self diagnosed). is it possible to have panic attacks, anxiety, and depression from consuming gluten?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doubtful: True gluten intolerance is rare and self diagnosis is unreliable. There is no proven true link between gluten ingestion and psychiatric symptoms. I suggest you read the Consumer's Digest recent issue devoted to gluten. It's easy to understand and up to date but if you're caught up in the gluten fad/frenzy you might not like the conclusions.
