Globus Pharyngeus : may be caused by reflux of acidic stomach contents into the upper esophagus causing spasm of the upper esophageal sphincter muscle & a sensation of something stuck in the throat. Endoscopic & manometric diagnosis by a GI doctor diagnose upper esophageal spasm & gastro-esophageal reflux disease. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy treats anxiety. Specific medications & diet are needed if GERD is found.
