A member asked:

If a dr is located too far for a patient to visit (geographically) can dr legally do a phone consult? also can dr prescribe meds?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on variables: State medical boards vary in what they consider adequate methods of establishing a physician/ patient relationship & what constitutes a valid assessment before prescribing treatment. Some require a valid history, examination and vital signs before treatment is initiated along with detailed records of any encounter.Failure to do so may result in restriction or loss of a license.
