I know fruits and vegetables are vital to healthy living. but what are your true servings per day and how much.

It depends: Diet suggestions vary widely and serving sizes do as well. I like to tell my patients that a simple rule to follow is this: each meal treat your plate like a clock face. From 12 o'clock all the way around to 9 o'clock should be vegetables. Every meal. Make it look like a rainbow of color as well. Corn and potatoes do not count ( as too many people would use those exclusively)

As much as possible : Vegetables are the cornerstone so the more the better, & the more the colors (variety) the better. Then fruit/whole grain starches/beans/legumes, & then meat (fatty fish is best, as you know) protein. Hope that helps.
