A member asked:

I've had stomach pains and heartburn and have been taking tums (calcium carbonate) to help but it hasn't helped and have also developed a headache and have no appetite.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Stomach/heart burn: tums (calcium carbonate) may not be sufficient for pain, need to avoid certain food, such as tomatoes, greasy food, soft drinks, spicy food, etc..,avoid smoking, over the counter omeprazole, cimetidine, lanzoprazole may help. it is not clear if the headache is related to the stomach pain, but may need to see doctor if pain worsens after making some dietary changes and tried the above meds
