Watch for fever: Usually most cases of a runny nose or rhinitis is a self-limited viral infection that should not lead to full-blown pneumonia however if your symptoms do not improve after 1 to 2 weeks of using over-the-counter drugs like Claritin (loratadine) then you should be evaluated by a infectious disease physician if you develop fever, worsening cough, general malaise
