A member asked:

31, f, obese. bad gerd. had nasal/throat congestion cough. x-ray to rule out bronchitis. x-ray at hospital ( sitting down) said "slight prominence the pulmonary vascularity without overt pulmonary edema. doc said it " looked good". what does it mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A radiologist once told me that interpreting chest xrays is one of the most difficult chores in radiology. The best technique is to take a chest xray with the patient standing with a real deep breath. An obese person sitting for the X-Ray often gives the illusion of congested pulmonary vascularity. I'll bet that if you had the xray standing&taking a full deep breath, it would be perfectly normal.
