Fever: Monitor temperature and use nasal saline to rinse sinuses. This will reduce post nasal drip and the associated cough. If you continue to cough or spike fevers, please see your physician.

No: I often recommend that pregnant patients sleep with a body pillow as it can help relieve low back pain in pregnancy. Consider a buckwheat stuffed head pillow or foam head pillow if you find you are not getting proper neck support.

Ask your doctor: If you are traveling a long distance by plane or car, consult your doctor before leaving to if you are at risk for blood clots and may be a candidate preventive medications. As your risks may not always be obvious, you may wear loose fitting clothes, use support hose, stand and walk when you are able . Flexing and extending you feet will also help the leg circulation.

I would also recommend that you drink plenty of fluids, avoid alcohol when you fly. If you are at increased risk of DVT, I would recommend that you wear graduated compression stockings with 20 to 30 mmHg.

Evaluate and treat: Have it evaluated for possible causes then see how well it can be treated. You might consider seeking out osteopathic physician help(do). Osteopathic manipulation can be very effective at treating back pain, even at times without pain medication. Chronic back pain is one of the most common reasons for insomnia and has myriad causes. Do your best to find the cause and thoughtfully pursue treatment.
