Quit now: It's easier to quit when you're young. Believe me, this is the best favor you can do for yourself. Chest pains are a sign of irritation by cigarette smoke. You might even have asthma triggered by the smoke inhalation. Seek a Family physician who will help you quit. Good luck.

Chronic inflammation: Could be due to chronic inflammation of the trachea and bronchi. One should see ones doctor, get examined and agree upon a method for smoking cessation. It takes about 6 mos for ones lungs to heal completely. Stopping now will add years onto ones life.
