Reactive airways: The cigarette smoke likely irritated your airways and caused them to constrict. The constriction is likely why you had difficulty breathing. You may be exposed to other environmental factors that also bother your lungs and can consider seeing an allergist for both pulmonary function tests and/or allergy tests. Probably not a good idea to smoke in the future. Good luck.
