i've had swollen tonsils on one side for a few months now. no white spots and no other throat related symptoms. what could this be?

Swollen tonsil: Sometimes asymmetry of the tonsils(tonsillar pillars), position and muscle tone. 80%of the time it is benign but 20% of the time there could be malignancy which is not known until they examine the tissue after tonsillectomy. Any lymph nodes in the neck? F/U within 2 weeks with ENT. Ask if MRI would be of any help in distinguishing between non malignant and malignant cases,
