Is it safe to switch to pepcid (famotidine) from omeprazole for heartburn?

Yes, but...: Pepcid (famotidine) does not control acid production as well as Omeprazole does. Before switching, be sure you are following anti-reflux measures well. Also, before switching, I would contact your doctor who is treating you for reflux, to be sure that he/she agrees that this is a reasonable approach for you. Otherwise, good luck.
