May be normal: What does your child eat? If he is on breast milk, very soft, loose stools are perfectly normal. Juices can cause very loose stools also, so you may want to cut that down if he drinks more than 6 oz/day. If they are just loose, but not so watery that they soak into the diaper without any substance, they may be normal. Check with your child's doctor at the next visit.

Likely normal: Most likely this is normal. Softer stool is actually healthier than hard formed stool. As long as there is no blood or mucus and your child is happy and growing well, then I wouldn't be worried. Avoid giving more than 4 ounces of fruit juice per day, limit milk to around 20 oz or less and encourage plenty of water. Avoid other sugary drinks as well.
