Not good: Bad breath is the result of one of either stomach problems generally found with poor digestion or a mouth infection. You should see your dentist and if there are no problems in your mouth, see your physician.

Multiple causes: Bad breath or halitosis can have multiple causes. The main one is dental decay, gingivitis, and periodontal disease. Not brushing and the smell of decaying food and plaque. The tongue must be brushed as well. The tongue is like a thick carpet for plaque and odors to accumulate. Brush the tongue as far back as possible. Brush thoroughly 2-3 times a day, floss daily, rinse with listerine.

Brush tongue ; floss: While acid reflux can be an issue, it is no longer considered a primary cause of bad breath. The major causes of non-food related breath odors (garlic etc.) are gum disease and rotting food particles on the tongue. Floss daily ; use a toothbrush w-toothpaste to brush as far back on your tongue as possible. (colgate total with antibacterial triclosan works great!) voila, no more bad breath!

First, the cause?: First, you have to determine the cause. There are both dental and medical causes of bad breath, although the most likely one is poor oral hygiene. Brush, floss and use a tongue scraper routinely and see your dentist for a good cleaning, dental check-up and demonstration of how to keep your mouth clean. Med causes: Dr sandler provided an excellent response. Problems with bad breath (hallatosis) can be related to oral hygiene (i.e., caries, periodontal disease, insufficient saliva) or due to general medical problems such as sinusitis, gastric reflux, diabetes etc. . Recommend starting with a dental evaluation. If that doesn’t turn up the cause – then recommend evaluation by your physician. Take care.

Brush & floss daily: Rinse your mouth with essential oil of peppermint and cloves. It does not contain alcohol so it does not dry the oral tissues and irritate the gums.

Good oral hygiene: First step is to make sure you are brushing and flossing on a regular basis. Next, if you have not seen a dentist for a while, make an appoiintment for him check for any gum problems. Gums problems, gum disease cancause bad breath. This is the first step. There can be other causes of bad breath, but i would start here first.

Oral hygiene: Bad breath has many causes. Most of the time it is the result of bacteria causing gingivitis or worse periodontitis. This can be avoided by regular brushing, flosing and visits to your dentist. I did not include mouth wash because it will only masks the problem allowing it to become much worse before you have to deal with it.

Halitosis: An unpleasant odor of the breath. It can be caused by a number of factors, including cavities, periodontal problems, diet, and acid reflux. All of these conditions need to be diagnosed by a local dentist and physician who can actually see you and determine the cause of your bad breath after taking a full medical hx. Once the cause is determined, then treatment can be rendered.
