A member asked:

I tested negative hiv antibody test after 1.8 yr of exposure but now i m having problem in mouth due to smoking. what is this hiv or due to smoking. ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Whoa: If you are HIV-negative 1.8 years after your last risky exposure, the problem is not HIV-related. I hope you are able to give up smoking, whatever else is happening. Only someone who can look at your oral lesion can determine the cause (though it's not HIV); if you are concerned, please get seen. If you're a smoker, you're not too young to have cancer from it.
