Useless: ultrasound is useless for abdominal pain associated with diarrhea ultrasound good only to show if there is a stones in the gallbladder or not your symptoms could required more GI work up father with polyps is not related to your present problem unless you have a colitis or a familial polyposis that could lead to cancer then it is a completely different scenario most likely hou have IBS

Polyps, celiac?: Polyps yes but inflammation may also cause bloating lymphocytic colitis is possible in addition to flattening of the villi we see in celiac which is a gluten allergy. rule out Crohn's disease in your age group as well as ulcerative colitis with bleeding and diarrhea. These are better served with cool is opt or endoscopy. US will not show inflammation, only obstruction or tumors
