Hpv+, normal pap b4 hyst. no history of mod-high grade cin. had total hyst for bil cysts (benign), norm path. told no more paps needed.is this normal?

Yes: After total hysterectomy including removal of the cervix, Paps only need to be continued if the hysterectomy was done because of cervical cancer or "precancer". I would not consider having a positive HPV test but no positive Pap a precancer. I would recommend no further Pap tests are needed. Best wishes:)
