A member asked:

At what point does bilateral vestibular loss turn into bilateral vestibular failure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

None specifically: Unless it's caused by neurologic injury or infection, vestibular loss is usually gradual. Certain tests can help determine if a person has residual vestibular function. Intense physical therapy by a specialist in this area can help affected individuals adapt to, or compensate for, the loss of vestibular function. With training, many people with vestibular failure can remain active & involved.
