No: glucose 95 doesn't need metformin and it should be prescribed by a physician. if you are worried about your sugar, try to improve your lifestyle, by losing weigh, and being more active daily. A 10% weight loss, can dramatically improve blood sugar, and activity can increase the sensitivity of your receptors to insulin. Try adding more fruits and veggies, and less processed foods. best health.

Perhaps: your fasting blood sugar is normal; it would be important to know your FH, how overweight you are. Metformin is used in Type 2 diabetes, but some clinicians use it for obese pts trying to lose weight; it decreases sugar absorption, improves insulin sensitivity, and other effects. As with any medication, there are potential side effects (Google it). If used, would start at 500mg twice daily.
