Not related: The black spots in her vision are not related to glaucoma. These are probably floaters. Have her call her eye doctor about these.

Floaters?: If your mother has been diagnosed with borderline glaucoma it is unlikely that any of her visual problems are related to the glaucoma. Typically in borderline glaucoma the optic nerve may look weakened but the function is still good. The black changes that you describe are not typical for the type of damage that occurs with glaucoma, which is typically permanent and irreversible.

May be floaters: Your mothers may be seeing floaters in her eyes, as these spots tend to be slightly grayish & mobile without affecting the overall visual field of the eye. With "borderline" glaucoma, I would not expect that she had any visual field loss, but possibly exam findings that are being monitored carefully. If her black spots have suddenly occurred with/without flashing lights, she should have an exam.
