Start brushing now: Ideally parents should start cleaning their child's teeth as soon as they erupt. Since it's already been a few months start brushing them now. Use a soft bristled infant tooth brush and either water or non-fluoridated infant tooth paste twice daily. If there is a pediatric dentist practicing near by then bring them in for a first appointment.

Tooth brushing: It is generally recommended that tooth brushing with water only be started daily after the first tooth eruption. Toothpaste that contains fluoride can be used in children who are old enough to spit it out. The first dental visit is ideally within 6 months of first tooth eruption but generally no later than 2 years of age.
