I have a feeding tube and my doctor took me off all of my anti-inflammatories. why is this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin cause irritation in your stomach. The chance of abdominal pain and bleeding is less when you take these meds with food. Since you have a feeding tube, you're probably not eating (or as much). So, the anti-inflammatories are more likely to cause problems. Also, the feeding tube keeps the esophageal sphincters open increasing aspiration risk.
