Older kind: The older AH such as Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) Atarax, Chlortrimeton actually possess more drying effect than the newer generation non-sedating ones. However you are also more likely to get drowsy from them. However allergy is not the only thing which causes excessive mucus and a steroid nasal spray will likely work better.
