A member asked:

How long after taking antibiotics should one take probiotics, and what number billion bacteria count is suggested?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Still sketchy...: One should probably not routinely take probiotics with antibiotics unless one is at risk for developing infection with clostridium difficile. If you do take it go five days beyond the end of antibiotics. Evidence of benefit is weak and potential harm possible. If taking, the higher dose of about 10 billion colony forming units seems to be better.
